ETS Magazine Loaders In Competitive Shooting

It has been 3 months since I started using these things, and I just have to say that using Elite Tactical Systems magazine loaders has made competitive shooting just a hair less hectic than it would otherwise be.

Last weekend I shot my first major 3-gun match, and I couldn’t have been happier with how the event was run. However, on the flip side this match was run so well that there was little to no downtime. To make matters more interesting, the Safariland Expedition Multigun format is designed to be fast. The “expedition” rule set was invented by people that live in Las Vegas who don’t want to die of heatstroke because a 3-gun match lasts from 7AM to 5PM. So they developed a stage design and a rule set that allows for very fast shooting and very little stage resetting between shooters.

So, what does this have to do with fancy magazine loaders? Simple. I have very little time to think about my upcoming course of fire, and any second spent putting rounds into my rifle or pistol magazines is time lost thinking about my game plan, my footwork, and being a good team player by helping reset the stage between shooters.

For those unfamiliar with the action shooting sports, everyone helps. It doesn’t matter if you are a world champion or a new shooter, everyone helps reset targets and prepare the current stage for the next shooter in your group (your “squad”). Some matches will actually disqualify a shooter if they do not help reset. So, in short, nobody wants to be “that one shooter” that isn’t contributing. So if I’m off to the side at my car reloading magazines, that means I’m not spending time doing things that are more important (both to the group, and my game).

This! This is why I love the ETS magazine loaders.
